We’re gonna be on National Television!!!

Completely buzzing at the moment…just had a call from Lesley who was watching Carte Blanche and they aired a preview of our interview….So it looks like out interview will be aired on national television in South Africa, tomorrow night (Monday), 19:00-19:30 MNet…

I guess we’ll officially be out of the closet now – although, I suppose, we’re already out to anyone who saw the preview…very very exciting, but slightly terrifying!! We haven’t even seen anything since they left our home on the day of filming…so could look like complete idiots…who knows….

I just hope that there are guys out there who will watch or hear about our interview and seek medical assistance from a proper FS, or at least feel like MFI isn’t the end of the world. At the end of the day, the only reason I decided to do the interview was in the hope that I could spread the message that MFI is embarrassing, of course it is, but it’s nothing to feel ashamed about….and let’s hope that whoever edited the piece, made sure that if nothing else, that’s the message to get out there…

I hope my heart isn’t going to be pounding this hard al night and all day tomorrow as we wait to see ourselves baring our souls on national television….

  1. This is so very, very exciting! Is it a station that puts articles or programmes on their website for download after they have broadcast?

    • Hi CelticGirl,
thanks for the comment and kind words. So sorry to hear you’re facing the struggle of infertility. Please don’t feel guilty about wanting another child – what could be more normal than wanting another bundle of joy and a sibling for your child. I can understand your hubby’s reluctance to speak about it – a bad SA result hurts, and even more than that, affects our sense of worth, our masculinity, our manliness – I know it shouldn’t but it does. And us guys seem to prefer the ‘pretend it doesn’t exist’ approach to dealing with these kinds of problems. All I can suggest is to give your hubby some time to come to terms with it all. Glad to hear you’re dealing with a proper fertility specialist. Good luck with the IVF+ICSI, and please pop back and let me know how things are going. Take care.

  4. I’ll be watching! I can’t wait to see it. You are so brave and I truly hope it sends out a loud and clear message. Wishing you lots of luck for tonight. I am sure you will both be very nervous!

  5. Great! and good luck (not that you can do anything about it now hey!) Hope the response will be fantastic!

  6. GREAT NEWS! How exciting that you will get to tell your story on National TV, and increase people’s awareness of a man’s point of view re: the infertility process (and about infertility in general). Please keep us posted on how your TV debut went!

  7. Would you post a link if it is online please? I’m in England :0)

    • Hi Claire.
MNet (the channel that will be airing the interview) do post some of their stories as streaming video on their site, so if they do put our segment on, I’ll definitely link to it. I would like to have a version on my blog (assuming it’s not too embarrassing/terrible), so will definitely be looking at the options. They do apparently sell DVD versions, so I may have to buy a copy or something if I can’t figure out another way of getting it…but assume I’ll need to get permission from the producers to have it on my blog…but we’ll see.
I promise to keep you posted!

    • Hey Claire,
The show aired and am a little disappointed at the main reason I went on the show not making it into the final cut. But they did include me talking about the Pituitary Foundation which was cool! Here’s the link to the transcript for the time being (I’ll send you an updated link if/when the video is up on their site): http://beta.mnet.co.za/carteblanche/Article.aspx?Id=4157&ShowId=3
